Need pointers to install some sensors!

Hello. I have a 1995 Tracker Party Express 2400 with a 2006 Merc 150 Opti. I recently replaced the water pump, thermos, and poppet valve due to overheating alarm going off after 2500rpm. Runs like a top now. I need to know if anyone can point me in the direction of how to install a water temp sensor, and a water pressure sensor/gauge. Thank you all in advance. I have been here before as TampaBoater but I couldn’t recover my account. Thanks.

Seems the popular thing to do is use a pressure sensor and dash mounted water presure gauges capable of 30 psi FSD would be in order. Idle pressures are in the single digits like 3 give or take psi while WOT pressures could be up to 15# roughly.

Since my engine monitors temperature, not pressure....Over Temp Alarm, I decided to install a thermometer and a dash mounted temp gauge. Thermostats seem to be from 100-143F over my experience with OB engines and the OT alarm sensor is 195F.

On the rear of the block, in the water jacket cover where your spark plugs are located, on at least one bank or the other, probably both, will be a ⅛" NPT brass plug(s). That is your access point for whichever type sensor you choose. As I recall the V 6 uses a thermostat in each bank and there is a plug in each bank.

You might check to see if you already have temp senders and overheat sensor on the heads. A lot of Merc V6s come standard with those. Look for brown wires on the heads.

For the water pressure gauge (the best idea), you will either need to find a threaded plug on the block or "tee" into a water hose.
