need pinion gear for 66 Fastwin

Destroyed the pinion gear today in the lower unit. Amazingly it didn't do anything to the other gears. They want $262 for one here. EDIT

By the way its an 18 hp and the part number is 308617. It was used in lots of models and years.

Look in the "Top Secret File" at the top of the page, there is a list of salvage yards there, maybe one of them can help you out.

Is the driveshaft bushing above the pinion gear available? Mine appears to be pretty worn and i'm thinking is probably the cause of my pinion gear failure. I dont see it listed in parts diagrams.
