Need parts 1995 150 johnson

I need to replace my Powerpak & rectifier & maybe coils. I'm new at this so i dont know were the best place to go is. Were are some good places to get my parts, and what brands to buy and stay away from. 1995 Johnson 150 fast strike.

Why do you need to change pack and rectifier? If you have the black sleeve stator you will have to change it(stator) to a grey sleeve to work with any of the replacement packs on the market and you may have to change the optical sensor. If you already have the grey sleeve stator just order a 58-4910 from Promarine as it will replace the blue,grey,red and black sleeved packs.

I took it in to a marine shop and they said it needed a new powerpak and rectifier. I dont know what color anything is or anything about this stuff. I'm just doing what i was told. I'm tring to do this stuff myself with your guys help. because i cant aford to pay anyone else to do it. I just got screwed over $900 the last time i took it in, and they want $800 to fix it now.

Get on ebay and get you a factory manual or CD for your engine and then get you a good ohm meter to test with. If pack is bad you may have to change stator to make it work anyway and stator is $300.00. If rectifier is bad that another $250.00. If pack is bad that $230.00 and if sensor needs changed that $65.00 so $800.00 is not a bad price at all.

The power pack for my J150 (1994) was only $150 shipped.
Took all of 20 minutes to install.

They told me they were going to change the power pak and rectifier $800 parts and labor. They didnt say anything about the optical sensor and stator. I dont understand why i cant just change out the power pak for the same one that i have Or do they not make it any more.
