need opinions - best motor under 9.9 hp

I'm in the early planning stages of setting up a small lake boat. The motor I put on it will need to be 9.9 hp or less.<br />What do you guys recommend. Also would like to stay above 5 hp.<br />Will consider a used motor, but it needs to have an excellent reputation.<br />Thanks for all the input.<br />Ken

If 85lb is not too much weight, the Evinrude/Johnson/Suzuki 8hp 4 stroke is a great engine.<br /><br />Good luck.

I just put a mercury 9.9 on the back of a 12 foot jon. It pushes that boat around like a champ. It pushes it well with two people in it at a maxed out weight limit with no problem. I bought this motor new about three months ago and as expected, I haven't had any problems. I couldn't tell if you already had the boat or not but if you are going to fish with more than two people I would suggest getting a fourteen foot wide bottom.
