My steering is not at the point where I have to strain to hold it, and turning to port is damn hard.

I have a Baja Sunsport 186 with a Yamaha ProV 150,
both 1988. I would like to get a steering system which will turn easily to both sides.

From what I can tell, my options are rotory, rack and pinion, and hydrolic. Rotory and rack and pinion seem to come in single cable and double cable types.

I'm a little confused on the difference between rotory and rack and pinion. Does this refer to the mechanism at the helm, or at the motor?

What type reduce loads the most? I would rather not spend the money for a hydrolic system, so I am mostly trying to decide between rotory, rank 'n pinion, and single vs. double cable systems.

Am I limited by the motor, side if motor well, boat, etc?

Thanks!
