Folks,

I am trying to ID the motor on my boat, purchased used, was told was an OMC/Johnson 140.

I located two numbers on a plate on the shaft, could find no other markings, they are:
Model # J140TXCNB(D) <- could not make out last digit completely
Serial # J5699527

Near as I can tell the model number means:
J140 - 140 hp. Johnson
T - Tiller Stearing?
X - 25" Shaft (known to be a 25)
CN - 1982 (?)
B (D?) - Model Change

Any Help would be greatly appreciated, I am a new poster to this forum.

Thanks in advance.

emp.

Re: Need Motor ID

Just a guess but I would imagine the "T" is for tilt as opposed to tiller steer.

Bob ;)
