Need more help on buying 1st boat please

Thanks to all the wonderful advice i've been getting,it's invaluable! I looked at another boat today- a 17' SeaStar tri-hull with a Johnson 85hp. I think this is finally the one! Everything works,lots of extras,great trailer, and the motor runs excellent.Of course I'll have everything checked out thoroughly, but I love this boat;it's just what I've been looking for (it does need new paint and carpet). I'm wondering a couple of things: The owner's brother (it's in his yard) is not sure on the year of the motor. The serial # is 12525627 (are you out there Fone_Man ?). Also, can I tow this boat with my 85 Caddy Deville. It has a 4.1 liter v-8 and front wheel drive. Thanks again for any help. You get a happy face when you buy a good boat and motor that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Of course, that never happens... so we just settle for the little smily faces we post with our comments. To the left of your post you'll see "Smiles Legend" underlined. Click on that and it will tell you what keys to punch for the face you want. Lately, my boat only allows me this one...

That is real fun stuff when you find the one.I hope it works out good. A V8 should do ok with the boat, problems can exist with 2 wheel drive on steep wet ramps, or muddy or sandy dirt ones. If you really want a giggle, i pulled my first boat around with a Toyota Supra stick... lol, what was I thinking!! Needless to say I now tote it around with and older 6 cyl 4WD. Just be careful of the ramps you choose, the more concrete the better for that car.
