I have a 1988 35 HP Mercury on a 20 ft pontoon boat. Motor has been freshly rebuilt(has had about 20 gallons of fuel ran through it). My question is i only reach 4500 RPM's. Is this about right or should it be higher?
My manual show an operating range of 5000-5500. I agree with Alan, you might think of droping down one size. Or maybe you could check and see if your motor is mounted a little low.
