need info on old honda b75

I'M VERY NEW TO BOATS I JUST RECENTLY INHERITED A 1953 STARCRAFT LONE STAR AND A HONDA B75. FROM READING OTHER POSTS I HAVE LEARNED ALOT ABOUT MY MOTOR, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YEAR IT IS THE ONLY DATA PLATE ON IT SAYS B75-2005071 AND I WAS ALSO WONDERING ABOUT THE OIL SYSTEM, DOSE IT HAVE A OIL PUMP OF ANY KIND - BEACUSE I WAS TOLD THE OIL INJECTION SYSTEM DIDN'T WORK, BUT I DIDN'T THINK 4-STROKE ENG. HAD OIL INJECTION. <br /> I WOULD BE VERY GREATFULL FOR ANY HELP. THANKS, NEWBIE

First off ,yes you have an oil pump that works very nicely in all but the most rare and severe conditions.I am a Honda tech, but I don't have the paperwork in front of me to tell you what year your engine is.I have seen it come up on this board before ,so sit tight and you may get more help with that.There is another number stamped into the powerhead, at the front of the engine,just to the left of the carb and just above the shift linkage.This is the engine number ,and as body parts are interchangable on this engine to way back when,THAT NUMBER, might give you a better reflection of what you really have.Simple ? What color is it?

THANKS HONDON THE ENGINE IS WHITE WITH A BLUE STRIPE ON THE COWL IS THERE ANY WAY TO CHECK THE OIL PUMP BEFORE I TRY TO START IT FOR THE FIRST TIME IT HASN'T BEEN RUN IN A WHILE AND WHAT TYPE OF OIL SHOULD I USE.

most likely around a 1973 model or earlier mine has serial # 3015415.

There is no web site for Honda serial numbers and mfg years When did the production of the 7.5 start? Well I don't know. <br />This is a 1973 model: <br />Picture (click)

Hey Hondon The nimber on the power head is also b75-2005071, The picture Bear put on his post looks excactly like the motor I have how many years did they make that model? do you think i would be safe buying a manual for a 1973 and where could i get one. Thanks for all the comments they are a great help and very interesting I've got alot to learn but i can't wait to get out in my boat this spring. Thanks, N2B
