Hi, I am looking at a 1994 signature 170. The dealer is asking 4,900 for the boat. The engine and everything looks really clean in addition the dealership is replacing all of the ripped interior and replacing the soft wood. This would be my first boat and I don't want to make a mistake. :confused:Any info anyone has about this boat would be great. It has a 3.0 ltr IO is that strong enough to pull tubers and skiers? We are going to test drive it this weekend, any tips on what to look for or check? Thanks

1900 lbs dry weight, 3.0L Alpha rated at 125/115 hp, 22 gal fuel tank, full fuel will add about 154 lbs to weight and a few other lbs for other fluids, now you are close to 2100 lbs. It is highly possible that you will have enough power for what you want, you may also have to change prop pitch for hole shot. When you go to sea trial, try to take the load in people that would be on a tubing day and see how the boat does. You know you will add more weight in coolers and toys for a day of tubing. I had a 1987 17 foot SeaRay with 3.0L alpha, with me, wife, daughter it did pretty good, I have cousin that would come to town and we would load us, him and his wife, coolers and other gear and go out, it would take a while to get on plane with that load. That is the best I can do for advice.
