Need horse power of Volvo 5.0

First, thanks to all for the other posts on this forum that I have learned from, great site.

I recently purchased a 1994 Corona 1950 with 5.0 Volvo Penta SX. The problem: I need the horse power for the boat number application. Anyone know?

If it's the 5.0Gl it's 220hp thats what I have.

Well don't expect it to be 220 hp like the 2007 model. Lots of things change iin 14 years. Things like your 94 5.0L would have to be a Ford. Volvo didn't use the 5.0GL (GM engine) untill 97. Prior to that it was Fords for the 5.0 Engine but was called a 5.0FL, not GL.
Do you have the full model number or better yet the Volvo Serial number for your particular engine? It may have been replaced at some point.

I do not have the model or serial number. I will look for that the next time I am over at the lake. I have the boat stored for winter but anticipate a warm weekend soon where the wife and I will be able to go over to get it cleaned up. I will look then.

As for being replaced at some point, that may very well be. The hour gauge shows 41.75 hrs and the engine looks like new but not as new as yours, AngelC.

It is most likely a Ford 5.0FL like Don said so 190-205hp would be my guess
