A distributor from an inline 6 will work on your 4 cylinder IL, if you change the distributor cap, and they are the same vintage. 1974 IL4s were the last year of the distributor models. The first 1/2 of 1979 were the last of the IL6 distributor ignitions.
I am not sure the first year the ignitions went to battery cdi distributor ignitions, however. You could match the switchbox part numbers to find out, I would think.
