Dumb question. When you did the water pump did the water pump mate up correctly with the water tube when you installed the g/c ??

Re: Need help

If the impeller is in correctly and all appears correct in the water pump there's a real possibility of a piece of the old impeller or foreign object blocking the water tube or passges... I've seen 'em suck up mud and get all kinds of junk in them. Several times I've solved the problem by backflushing with a water hose.

Re: Need help

I'm not familiar with your engine but there should be some kind of hose or tube that water exits the motor from. It may be connected to the exhaust as some older Johnnyrudes spit out the water through the exhaust. I have used this technique on Mercury's... they have a tattle tale or pee hole... just put a hose pipe up to it very tightly and ran the water backwards while the lower unit was off... it blew out chunks of the old impeller.
