NEED HELP WITH UNDERWATER MERC.

FRIEND OF MINE HAS A 65HP MERC FOUR STROKE. RECENTLY IT SUNK. HE PULLED DISTRIBUTOR OFF CLEANED AND DID ALL THE RIGHT STEPS. WAS ABLE TO START IT BUT NOW HE IS GETTING NO SPARK AT ALL. HAS CLEANED EVERYTHING BUT IS STUMPED AS TO WHY NO SPARK. ANY IDEAS OTHER THAN NOT TO OWN A MERC?

My idea, other than not to own a merc, is to not let the **** thing sink. Let any motor sink, and it's probably not going to run. If it was running, or maybe even not, a lot of electrical shorts could have occurred. He needs one of three things:<br />1. A **** load of money to buy a new one<br />2. A **** load of time to fix this one<br />3. Insurance<br /><br />BTW: how did it sink?

TO MUCH RAIN AND THE PUMP DID NOT COME ON. I AM AN EVINRUDE MAN SO I AGREE HE SHOULD SINK IT. YOUR IDEA OF AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IS GOOD. HOWEVER, IT DID RUN FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER HE DRIED IT OUT.<br />ANY OTHER THOUGHTS?
