I have a 18" Tracker with a 75 Mercyry 2 stoke Optimax,. yesterday I was runnimg at 35 MPH and hit a log approxmitly 3" in dia and 10' in length.
there is no visibile signs that this even happened (other than the THUD i heard).
heres the issue, my speedo used to get to 48 at WOT, now it will not go past 30 at the same RPM's and I have not spun a hub.
where is the speedo locateded on this boat?

Thanks

Ayuh,.... You don'y say what Vintage it is,...

I'd Guess the pitot tube is in the leadin' edge of the lower unit...

Your speedo will more than likely be a white elongated triangular shaped piece of plastic on the port side of your transom. They're made to kick up when struck, just push it back dow.

That is what I thought ( white pick up on rear of boat ), Mercury told me they have not used that system for years, this is a 2011 engine, but they did not tell me how the spedo works either, they just said " take it to the dealer".

Has nothing to do with the engine, pitot tube is mounted on the transom.
