Need help with my brakes/wires for my escort trailer.

I have a 19' Escort single axle trailer. Yesterday, while towing my 19' boat, one of the trailer tires were smoking. I pull over on the freeway and sure enough it seemed like the brake on the right side was stuck in the brake position.
I took off the tire and used my spare (the rim was HOT and I didn't want the tire popping).
Now, I also noticed that the lights on the right side didn't work. All the lights on the left sure did.

What could be the problem? Is it the wiring? Do I need new brakes? I am a little worried about towing it this coming weekend.

Your brakes are hydraulic; the wiring has nothing to do with them.

Pull the wheel and drum and check out the brake mechanisms.

Better yet, pull both wheels and see where the problem brake system is faulty.
