Need help with identifying 50hp merc outboard

Bought a nice lund boat this past spring with a 50hp merc outboard, problem is I can't seem to locate the year of this motor. It's definitely a blue stripe and its the thunder bolt series .on the back of the motor there is a serial number - 3242289. Any advice would be appreciated. Email me for pictures.

If that motor is still wrapped up remove the garbage bag and put the boat/motor under a roof of some kind or build a sun shade that covers but doesn't touch the motor. The garbage bag holds in moisture and raises the internal temp, all of this can lead to corroded wiring and rusty powerhead parts.

Unfortunately i don't have a garage so what is the best material to cover up the motor with?

Don't cover the motor with anything and keep it vertical so no freezing water in lower unit.

Spray your power head with a silicone spray to stop corrosion.

Couldn't get a response on my other thread im posting a pic of the new/used ignition distributor. Any tips on proper installation?

Wen i got the boat the guy said it wasn't getting any spark. Didn't even have the old distributor it was jus the base . Found another one on ebay . Jus wnna slap it in and see what it does, hopefully after that i can start the trouble shooting process
