Well your engine is a 1983 MERCURY 2.4L 200 ELPT.
Engine Model Number: 1200623, Engine serial number: 06334853

Sorry, But I do not have a service manual to look up your torque specs, But the service manaul part number that you should buy from a mercury marine dealer is 90-976583.

Good luck with it.

Re: need help with cylinder heads

i aquired this 1983 200hp merc, the person that had didn't know much about it, it wouldn't start, checked compression and it was all over the place 50-20 80 etc.. went to take the heads off and found one broken head bolt an the rest were loose, tighted them back up and turned the key and it started.. have since removed the heads gaskets seem fine top of pistons are good and cylinders walls are not scored, ordered new gaskets and impeller, seems to be signs of over heating, coil and spark plug boots have signs of being melted and some of the boots are missing don't know if the impeller is defected at this time ,i have since been told that if it did over heat that these motors can spin a bearing, so before i go any farther, looking for suggestions, when i started it it sounded good, but it was only for a split secound because i had know water..

35 lbs. First Generation block. Be very, very carfull with 'em. What was comp. after replacing tha head gaskets? Over heat usually gets tha piston/clyinder first.
Any marks of any kind on tha chrome? Or all six still chrome? Did you pull tha pistons out and take a look at piston/rings and clyinder? If you haven't done this it MAY be a wasted effort............
