need help w/94 waverunner!!!

i have a 94 yamaha waverunner 3. it was givin to me from a friend that couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. he said that when it was in the water it would take off then bog out after about 30 seconds. i got it and hooked it up to my hose and found out that there was water coming out of the water lock. is this also the muffler? there is a crack down the side.would this cause it to bog and not run right besides the leak? can i get rid of this box or find a cheaper alternative? i appreciate any advise. thanks tim

Mine boged out last summer(last day of riding).We rebuilt the carbs and put new gas filters on, works great now.Jim

Hello, I'm brand new to this sight. I have the exact situation as you with the 94 yamaha waverunner 3. I'm pretty sure that I've narrowed it down to needing a new waterbox. I was just curious as to what fix you came up with. Also, if you purchased a new waterbox, what did you go with??? I would appreciate any info you might have. Thanks, TJ
