I have a 9.9 merc thats been in storage for at least 7 years ran it the day I put it up and ran the carbs dry. I want to put it on a small jon boat for short trips easier and cheaper than putting my other boat in the water. I have,nt tried to start her yet. what should I do before trying?

pull the plugs out, and fog the cylinders first. turn it over by hand while you fog. open the carb up, and do the same. but dont soak it. you should be good after that. new plugs also.

Pull plugs and put some marvel oil directly into the cylinders hand turn flywheel. If everything seems to move freely replace plugs fill with fresh fuel, some sea foam/marvel and a good quality 2 cycle marine oil and fire it up. Check plugs and replace if need be.
Just because it sits "without fuel" doesn't mean the carbs won't need a going through.
