Hi guys.. me again. so i finally had to time to attempt to install my new shift control cable (5.0 Volvo Penta.) See thread below for the rest of the story. Anyway..removed the bolt and bracket holdind the cable to the outdrive... so everything moves but i can't pull the cable through the hole in the transom. The metal jacket off the cable seems to get hung up as it goes through. Advice? Shoudl i pull the cable out through the back of the boat (outdrive) versus trying to pull it forward? The cable is removed from the gunwall... all that is left is to get it out of the hose that runs through the transom.

And any advice for getting the new cable in? feed it from the back or from the engine compartment? t

Thanks much!

I assume you are pulling on the cable from the engine compartment where it comes out of the rubber hose?

Have you taken off the metal piece that threads onto the cable along with the lock nuts?

Might even be worthwhile pouring some dishwashing liquid down that rubber hose to help lubricate things
