Need help! Got another Johnson 35 today, think it's a '78 - 79 model, No. 35SR-E4895624. MOtor starts (with choke on, first time) & runs good. I don't think the water pump is working. Got a set of retangular rabbit ears on it, great facuet water pressure, BUT no water comes out of the "weeping line" nor thru the exhaust ports. Head appears to have been hot at one time. Paint is discolored slightly AND wiring harness cover is slightly melted where it lays on top of the power head.
I checked the "weeping line", it had an insect nest in it. Took line off & cleaned it. BUT, still no water comes out.
Could a sticking thermostat cause this?
Got a pump kit ordered, but should I take the thermoatat out & check the water jacket for stoppages?
No salt water running, no mud or weed running. Motor is pretty clean looking, but only 90#'s compression!! Cold !
Please HELP!
I'd post pics if I could figure out how!
Thanks in advance.
