Need help/opinion on Suzuki 350 insurance claim

Hey all, new to the forum. I recently traded in my Crest pontoon with a Suzuki 150 for a 2018 Crest Caliber 25' with a Suzuki 350 outboard. As long would have it, I was literally cruising at 5-6 mph and hit something under the water. The boat/engine has less than 10 hours on it and my insurance company (Progressive) wants to rebuild the lower unit. My dealer is adamant about replacing the lower unit and both props with brand new OEM parts.

I'm pretty sure if they rebuild it, they have to use OEM parts but I've been in the bodyshop business for 40 years and my shop does not use reconditioned or aftermarket parts.

Two props and a lower is about $9K and rebuilding it, the entire estimate is under $3K. I've expressed my desire not to have the props redone (The adjuster called me this weekend as I was on my way to take my 400+ HP jet ski to Riva Performance in FL because it came apart. One of the issues was a "repitched" impeller which is why I'm not a fan of repitching or rebuilding props/impellars)

Am I being paranoid or delusional wanting a new lower and/or props. I think I've got the adjuster talked into new props but we're working on the lower.

Thanks for the advice!

Any pictures of this damage ?----You would hope that it can survive at 5 or 6 mph I would think.----And some dealers may not be well equipped / experienced to rebuild some of this new stuff.

Nothing wrong with pushing for new, but your dealer’s position isn’t about quality. Their adamant because they stand to make the most money that way.

I beat the dealer would have different thoughts if the job went out for bid. ;)

Unless trashed, a good prop shop can make a prop better than new.

The DF350A model is so new and so unique that I doubt that there are any non-Suzuki OEM parts available anywhere in the world. So to rebuild the lower unit they will have to use genuine Suzuki spare parts.

As stated, the propellers should be able to be returned to as new condition. Same as the lower unit.

You are not being delusional. You simply want what every other boat and motor wants. More than you paid for. Human nature.
