need help on starter problem

90 90h0 evenrude starter gear turns over great,but dosent engage flywheel batteries all charged up (what to do) hope someone can help with this issue.Worked last week? I thank everybody,negative cable not on a good ground

Sounds like either it's wired backwards or your bendix is shot.

Jump the starter direct from a fresh battery. If it works normally, it's a bad connection in the wire harness or solenoid.

thanks Admiral I uused cables direct to starter,it engaged fine lots of power.Wont work from key though solenoid in good shape

So if you bypass the solenoid the starter engages and turns the outboard over, if you try with the key the starter just spins? If this is the case recheck all battery connections for corrosion and loose connections. If it still doesn't spin up your solenoid is going bad time for a new one.

After years of use, the contacts inside the solenoid get worn, burned. When this happens, they wont' transfer current properly.
