I play trombone in 8th grade top concert band. Our school band has always gotten top marks in the district wide large group performance evaluation.
Well, my scout troop is getting band members to play for the church. We have 3 trombones, but only one person with the melody. Since this is a simple song, and the other players are younger, and less experienced, I got chosen (I volunteered) to help with the melody part. But, it is in treble clef, and I play bass clef. I know that you just move up or down a couple of notes, but am not sure. Could you please help get the flute music into bass clef that a trombone can read.

Thanks in advance.

When you go to school, ask one of the cute girls in the flute or clarinet section to tell you the notes on the sheet music, then rewrite it in bass clef. BTW, I played trombone too. :)

This is actually easier than it seems. Both a flute and bass clef trombone are concert c instruments so there is no need to transpose notes. You will however have to transcribe it, again much easier than it may seem, you simply need to move every not down one line. Meaning, as a bass clef player you read the top line of the staff as an A while the treble cleff staff reads it as a F. So like haut said on the treble cleff staff you have spaces of FACE and lines of EGBDF. Adjust those accordingly and the bass cleff is done. Or if you want theres software out there that can do it for you.

hope thats not to confusing, been about 10 years since I've had to do it.

Thanks guys. I knew it could be done just by transcribing it up or down a couple notes. Just didn't know how many. Once Haut reminded me that the spaces spelled FACE, I was able to see what letter the written notes were. Then, I rewrote those on the correct line for bass clef.

Dam - I thought you were going to ask for tab transcriptions of the guitar solos in "Runnin' With the Devil" or something. I could help you with that!
