I'm stumped! I cannot find a suitable replacement fuel pump with 4-6psi operating pressure!

My OEM fuel pump (861155-2) is operating at 9-10psi. (I don't know if it's always been this high). Carb is flooding. Carb supplier says max of 6.5 psi. Edelbrock also states max of 6.5 psi for their comparable 1409 model.

Aftermarket models cross referenced for this OEM fuel pump all list operating at 9-10psi. I cannot find any that list 4-6 psi operating range. the OEM Mercruiser part is $630 vs $50 and the operating pressure is not listed.

How is this possible? Are all these aftermarket low-pressure pumps being used to supply a different carb that handles 9-10 psi?

Questions: (To 4.3 4bbl carb owners):
1) what is your fuel pressure?
2) have you ever replaced your pump, and if so, what model?
3) what carb do you have?
4) have your replacement pumps ever caused flooding of your 4bbl carb?

Thanks all!

Not unheard of but my mech pump was pushing 15psi whenever it wanted ,replaced with the Eaton electric pump and no more flooding issues. pressure for carbs should be no more than 6 psi

spend $20 on a fuel regulator
already on its way.
i just want To know why more people aren’t running into this problem with replacement pumps?
Are their 4bbl carbs more tolerant? a max of 6psi at the carb seems to be well established as a limit on the float/needle.

I can’t justify dropping $630 just to see if my OE pump is working to an unspecified pressure vs. common “aftermarket” pressure. And I can’t be the only one who has run into this problem.

The $70 Carter marine pump is not $630 until Mercruiser adds it's markup
