so apparently my new motor is missing a few parts. Since i dont have the actual part im having trouble locating ill try to describe it and its function as best i can. on my motor on the passenger side of the lower engine cover there is a knob that reads "slow-fast". there is supposed to be a linkage that goes from there into the carb intake and im told its purpose is to stabilize the idle for different conditions quickly so the motor doesnt die or clunk going into gear. since im having some issues in that department i figure i should just find one if i can. my issues arise because i dont know the parts name and i cant find it in the microfiche when it is blown up for me.
If anyone can help that would be great. My neighbor is trying to force me to make one out of a coat hanger if i cant find one. boat is kind of a pain to drive without it.

ive been told the link is called a slow speed linkage and is currently not available anymore. coat hanger may be the only option.

I am trying to vision what you are talking about, the parts breakdown that I am looking at does not have any type of linkage for the idle. Can you post your model number?

Go to BPR site get your motor up and look at the intake manifold schematic # 38 is what you need.On a 35HP I just recently made one, the cost was 28 bucks for a wire!! I used #9 galvinized wire and it works just fine.Took a bit of fitting and some filing but I have the time.

its #38 on this. goes from the selector switch, into the intake cover then onto the carbs somehow.

thats why my neighbor used coat hangers for his. been on there 5 years now and no issues but is unsightly. if the oem is cheap enough and easy enough to find ill just get that one.

looks like i need the whole assembly from the linkages on the carbs all the way to the knob. Most parts are impossible to get new so ill have to look for a used set. In the mean time i gotta figure out how to manually set the idle so i can run it smoothly.

Is the linkage you are talking about used to adjust the low speed needle valve?

yes it is. ive been told not to bother with the assembley and adjust as needed. its pretty hard to drive the boat now as is. it just loads up with fuel at idle and slightly above.

Kit352,
I have the exact situation that you have. My 65 is running good without the linkage set-up. But I think I'm going to piece it back together anyway. I'm not sure if it's even neccesary since mine is runnin.

Does anyone know?
