Got a prop off my 1999 Merc. 40hp, 3 cylinder #'s on housing worn but appear to be;48 73144 A 40 17<br />What do I got?(diameter and pitch). It has 13 splines and am looking for a replacement. Any recommendations? Motors, I know, props eeehh,a little shaky. Thanks in advance! :D

The '17' should denote pitch. The prop I have on my Alpha 1 outdrive has a series of numbers and the last two are 21... and I know it is a 21 pitch.

Chris the loadsmasher is right...last 2 numbers are pitch...diameters on these 'middle' size props vary from 10 to 10 1/4 inches...that prop would be for a small light boat...
