Hello, I picked up this engine along with another identified as a 1949 Evinrude Elto Sportster for $45.00 today. This engine is missing it's ID tag leaving me without a way to identify it. On the carb there is a # 47 stamped and on the side of the block there is a #28 stamped. Please help and thanks in advance for your responses.

Yep Zephyr is on the money its Mchulloch powerd or should be, which sold out there outboard divison to Aero marine in San Diego Cal., not to be confused with the Canadian Arro. Aeros of that Sears Simpson design I have seen were mostly black and if I remember correctly Sears Simpson may have at one time used a Clinton air cooled  I know the Canadian Arro used some Tecumseh air cooled motors...OMC built one called a Viking that could pass for the sears simpsons brother View attachment 154356....this all get really confusing after awhile... Ah then inters Yamaha who knocks off everybodys air cooled knock off including Elgin http://www.oddjobmotors.com/yamaha.htm,...LOL... then came the Chinese outboards we all love so much
