Re: Need help finding remanufactured ECM/PCM Mercruiser 8.1L
You're original PCM part number was 863620T2 that has now superseded to 865365T02 and you are correct that they do offer a Factory Recalibrated PCM # 863620R03. I didn't notice that last night.
The number on your PCM 863620-2 is known as 8636202 when running the number in the computer system and comes up NLA.
And your right, all the prices are between $1000.00 to $1800.00 depending on new or Remanufactured/Factory Recalibrated.
Because your engines are
MIE 8.1L HORIZ (Inboard) it will be a little more challenging to find one lying around due to not as many people part out the Inboard engines vs the High Performance type boats that typically would have a stern drive with the
MCM 496/8.1 package to start out with then they remove that engine and go to a custom made bigger H.P engine.
There is a difference between a MCM & MIE programed into the PCM.
There are two places outside of Mercruiser factory that offer some repair work to the PCM's that I know of that would be worth calling to see if they could either check out/repair your old PCM's or maybe offer some additional advice via phone such as if they have any lying around using yours as a core charge.

One other option might be to start calling shipyard marinas that services all boat models such as something of your size that would run an Mercruiser MIE engine model. Since Super Storm Sandy damaged more than 65,000 boats, I would think the used/salvaged parts would become a little more available sometime soon.
Was your boat part of Sandy's destruction?
