Ok so I bought a boat last May. Been great until my last fishing trip.

It started to shake some mid throttle, and then on idle would run rough, release pressure from somewhere then die.

I believe it to be carbs or spark plugs. My plugs are very rusty and in need of replacement so I figured I'd start there. Upon running I was looking around and saw one of the spark wires seemed to be cut and actually shocked me when I touched it.

Problem is I can not for the life of me, 1. Figure out what type of plug is the proper plug for my motor. 2. Find the proper spark wires to match my application. Ive tried to google but there is almost no information on OMC v6 200hp outboards. It always refers me to the Johnson V6 200.

As far as I know, I have a 1997 OMC V6 200hp outboard motor. I have no inspection plate but that is what I was told by the seller and my lower unit is OMC stamped. And from google pictures, is an exact match to a Johnson 200 v6 ocean runner. But I know OMC is pretty much a Johnson and probably why I cant find any info on a OMC 200 outboard. But the Johnson 200 is an exact match.

See pictures attached.

The spark plugs used are BP7HS-10 NKG plugs. But the 3 service manuals I have found all say something different than each other. So I have no idea which plugs or manual is actually correct.

So can anyone tell me what plugs are the proper plugs for my application, as well as give me a source to buy replacement wires for the wires pictured.

Thanks!

If those are automotive wires you need to replace all of them with a wire core wire. Sierra makes spark plug wires to fit just measure the length, or go to your local auto parts store and see if they can make them for you. Get rid of the ngk plugs and put champion in it I believe QL77JC4 is the plug. Cdi electronics makes the correct wires for your motor 931-4921.

If you have the model # you should be able to find all the parts you need.

Your motor (with carbs) is likely a Johnson OB. You should be able to look up the spark plugs, as well as any other parts you need. Sierra and others make aftermarket parts. A model number helps a lot.

I would expect your spark plugs to be Champ QL78YC, which are avail in my local Wallyworld.

Chris is correct on the plug follow his advice for that one. I gave you the plug # for a crossflow motor your should be a looper.

OMC was a manufacturer. Evinrude and Johnson are the brands they manufactured
