need help finding out what year my -johnson is

First time posting on this forum.

I have gotten my hands on an old Johnson Seahorse 45 HP . My problem is that i can not find any info on the motor anywhere.

The front of the cowling it say 102 seahorse, on the back it say Johnson 45.

The motor is absolutely massive for an old twostroke 40-50 HP including the prop and gearbox. it is about the size one would expect of an 70 or mabye 80 HP.

I can not make sense of what year this is or what to use for ordering parts.

not sure what the "s" is in the bs? you sure its not a j or an e? i see it as a 1988 rope start commercial, 20" shaft?? a pic would be nice tho.

That's what I find too. 45RSLE is a 1988 commercial rope start motor. Can't say I've ever seen one. It would take a rare customer to buy a rope start 45.

Hi and tank you for your replys It would indeed take a rare one to buy this one, but it is a kind of hobby of mine to repair the tings that others have given up ☺ Attached are pictures of it. I can take more pics when i get home later. What are commercial outboards?

"Commercial" may indicate like for work boats or commercial fishing boats. Sometimes rental boats.

I do understand the meaning of the word commercial, i was wondering what difference is in the engines between a commercial model and a recreational model
