Hopefully I’m posting this in the correct place. It’s been 5 years since Iv been on here. Anyways looking at 2 different boats first one.
96 Astro s-18b with blackmax 150 2 owner boat everything in great shape. Needs some new up to date graphs. 6000$ Next one is a 1995 javelin 379t 3 owner boat with fast strike 150 also a clean boat in decent shape. Not as nice as the Astro. it’s also 6000. Iv owned both brands and liked both. Iv never owned a Johnson outboard though. Both seem kind of pricey but boats around here are hot rite now! So everything is expensive.. Do either of these look like a clear winner? Thanks

27 year old boats are beyond their practical life span. Condition is the most important factor. Both are overpriced, but that's what life seems to be these days.

Without looking up that old Johnny, I don't know if its a 2 or 4 stroke. If its a 4, parts availability might be a problem.

While I do agree . I think it’s the new norm around here . All the used dealers are swearing new boat prices have drove up the used prices. I wound up buying the Astro for 5700. The motor is actually a 82 model 150 but still looks new. That being said this boat is in better shape and cleaner than most 10 year old boats Iv seen . All switches/lights/pumps all work. Bottom of hull is absolutely perfect . There’s not Been a bunch of crap added and holes drilled. Came with 3 new batteries and xps charger .good motor guide 24v . Older Lowrance GPS graphs at console and at the bow both work though . Trailer in perfect shape with new tires. Rite now I’m still trying to figure out why the hood on this motor looks different than the other 82s Iv seen and has dual pissers. The original owner passed away and his son knew nothing about the boat. I have been looking well over a month and it’s the only thing I could find in my price range that wasn't beat to death . I may have paid too much but I’m happy. It’s exactly what I was looking for.

That's usually a big key. Prices are high right now, so you may have "overpaid" some. But if you got a good boat out of it, and you're going to use it and enjoy it: let it be. Enjoy.

Haven’t cleaned or done any buffing on it yet . Still doesn’t look bad for old boat . Planning on a good sand and buff this weekend . 8D13ED8A-C8E6-4842-ABD7-155EA8190B94.jpeg
