Okay guys, I have a 1990 Johnson 140 VRO. I am switching from a 71 Evinrude 135. I have hooked up everything that I know how. this motor is a lot newer and has power tilt and trim. I have the throttles hook up and the power cable big red one from the throttle hooked up. I have the VRO oil tank with a hose with the screw screwed in at the end and a wire. Where do they go? I don't see anywher to plug them in. Secondly where do I hook the battery up two. My old motor had the postive and negative wires comeing right out this one does not? Also I have the power tilt and trim, green and blue wires coming out of the hyrdaluic cylinder do those go to the battery??? and a second coming out of a hole wite and black. If you guys can help would greatly apprecaite it. Or someone wants to talk me throuhg it would be very helpful. Or at least tell me what to look for?? ]
Thanks,

Re: Need help badly

The VRO oil hose should connect to a fitting right alongside the fuel fitting if one exists. Otherwise, that hose would connect directly to the small fitting at the bottom rear of the VRO. Be sure to prime the oil line before connecting it to eliminate air in the line.

The wires from the oil tank... There should be one wire with a terminal end that a screw/bolt would go through. That goes to ground. The other wire should have a plug in type terminal which would connect to a TAN wire just the other side of that large RED (engine harness) electrical connector.

The battery cables are a seperate item now, and come in various lengths. I have some of the OMC heavy duty factory cables left in my remaining stock, 10',3" and 8',3" should you not have them available locally. (Yes, they're expensive but I'd discount them).

The PTT green and blue wires must be connected to the PTT relay box. There's a plug in connection there. I don't have the wiring diagram but I'm sure that someone else here can help you with that.

The other two black, white wires are no doubt the trim gauge sender wires. You'll need the diagram for that also.

This schematic is for an older T&T then yours but I believe it'll do what you need to do.

Re: Need help badly

So i need to get battery wires then correct. And hook them up. And it should be ready to go. I see the hydraluic realy box it plugs in right above it. Now, once i get the batttery hook my throttle has a little red switch on it. that you can push up and down. That works the lift up and down correct. and i splice the oil tank. Hey if I just wnat to run premix, would you recommend it and since my tank is not istalled what do I need to dissconnect to run it straight?? Oh where do the battery lines go to the engine?? Thanks

Re: Need help badly

I still can't find the fuels systems. Am i looking for the pronged Evinrude/Johnson fuel connection?? And The VRO system is on the side of the prop or the side against the boat underneath?? Do I need to hook the tilt trim sender?
