I just bought a thermostat kit and am having a hard time figuring out how to get all of these pieces into the housing. Specifically, I am not sure how the pieces circled in green should go in. The piece circled in blue is the original cover that was on my engine and looks a lot different than the replacement. I did not see anything related to this in the service manual and the parts catalog was not very helpful either. I'm guessing I don't use all of the parts and use the original end cap but am not sure. Thanks.

Didn't you get any instructions with the kit ?? It gets kind of complicated depending on what yr mtr you have. Where did you get the kit from ??

I got it from **********. It did not come with instructions. I called them and they said that it does not come with instructions because all parts should be installed by a licensed mechanic and they would not need instructions.

I've seen instruction sheets but I think they came from BRP. That company you got it from is full of BS. I've been a tech a long time and I would need the instruction sheet to get everything put together properly.

I ended up installing the two pieces in bags at the top of the pic. Then put the small end of the thermostat towards the engine, followed by the red spring and my original cover with gasket. Hopefully that's right.
