Hi Capt.Bob<br /><br />This is information from genuine OMC service manual for 1973 Evinrude Triumph 65 hp outboard, models 65372 & 65373<br /><br /># Propeller gear ratio 12:29<br /><br />This is obviously the number of teeth on pinion and drive gears which is approximately 2.41 to 1

Thank you Boating Bob. The information confirmed my diagnosis. I searched high and low on the web for the information and my Clymers didn't contain it either.
