ok, I've got a 96 sears gamefisher 15hp engine model #225.581508

after looking up the model number online, it appears these are made for sears by Force as far as I can tell.

its got this round style fuel connector:

which I'm pretty sure is just like this one:

my questions are first, am I correct with my assumptions thus far?

second, are the fittings only available in 3/8" or can you get them in 5/16"? I dont see the little 15hp wonder needing 3/8" fuel line is all mainly...

third, this engine has sat for at least 9+ years in the garage, what fuel/oil mix ratio should I use for the first start up and should I do any other special prep to it? flywheel turns easily by hand.

or am I able to switch over to the more popular (and more readily available) mercury fittings, etc?

You can convert them to make life easier. Or buy the male and female connector and replace both.

As for starting, check the lines under the hood, make sure none have become soft or brittle.
Now would be a good time to change the water pump and lower leg oil.
The water pump impeller can become brittle over time and a chunk could break off and lodge in the passage way.
Flush the tank with some fresh gas and don't re use it in the outboard.
Go to Walmart and get some QuickSilver 2 stroke oil.
I'm not ABSOLUTELY sure on Force specs, but starting on a 50:1 oil/ratio can't hurt.

Since it sat so long, put a little oil/gas mix in the cylinder (s) so it has some lubrication. while the plugs are out, give the motor a few turns to get some lubrication in the cylinders.
Clean the plugs, pump up the bulb and have at it!

Re: need fuel line connector help real quick

I had actually thought about the water pump impeller as I had a similar problem with a mercury engine that sat up for a while and the impeller fell apart.

I went on sears website and looked up the parts on there as follows:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/par...s/Model-225581508/0247/1305320/10040944/00013

the impeller is part #47 which gives #436065-2.

I put that number into the iboats search engine and get the following impeller:
http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Parts-Ac..._category.f--searched.1--**********.638095441

I'm curious on how to read this as I'd rather see if a complete impeller replacement kit that would come with any gaskets/plates, etc is available instead?

is there a way to cross the sierra part number for this impeller (18-8903) into the search to see if there is a full kit available?

I mean I'm pretty sure this is the kit I need:
http://www.iboats.com/mall/partfind...&gd_poid=242678&gd_row=4&**********=638095441

as it crosses to the same engine parameters (15hp 74-97) that the impeller itself crosses to but not sure?

Yes you can use that fuel line connector,I believe 3/8 was the only size for that 15 hp outboard.
I do not think you could change the fuel line connector at the engine, because it is a threaded connector with a tubing connection that is screwed into a lower cowl. You could use a different manufacturers connector at the fuel tank though.
Yes that is the correct water pump impellar to use.
I have not found a retailer that sells a complete kit,but there are secondary markets such as Ebay.
I have a 1986 Force 15 hp and Iboats is the same place I bought my impellar.
50/1 is the correct fuel mixture.
I would run some Seafoam with the gas to help clean out the fuel system. It's available at NAPA or Walmart.
If you use Penzoil fully Synthetic Marine Oil it will smoke alot less.
