I think I posted this in the wrong forum the first time so here goes again. I need a little advice and hopefully someone here can help me out. I purchased a used 4Winns 190 Horizon w/Mercruiser 200 HP V8 about 1-1/2 years ago and soon found out the floor was rotted in it. I sued the dealer to get my money back and recently won the suit, however I have been told that it may be another 6 to 8 months to get my money so I am thinking of selling the boat and/or motor. The boat naturally needs some work, but the motor is in good shape and runs very well. I would like to know what the best approach would be to selling it (motor only or everything) and what a fair price is. I am not that familiar with boats so I have no idea. Thanks for any suggestions.

I would sell the whole nine yards, explaining in your ad, the problems with the Boat. You may find someone willing to tackle repairing the Boat, which will give you a better shot at selling it. Besides, it might be a hassle just selling the Engine itself. Then you have to unload a Rotted Boat with no Motor! You may want to wait until spring to sell it, as demand will be greater then. I don't know how much you have in it, so a price would be hard to determine. Along with that, you got your money back(Coming), and that would factor into the purchace of a New Boat. I also don't know what year the boat or motor is, but obviously you will not get what you paid for it, seeing how it is a "Damaged" Hull. Post the year of the Boat and Motor, maybe others will give you more ideas! Good Luck,

What year is it? How well does the motor and lower unit run? Is the transom shot too along with the boat? Throw out a price.

If I were you I would replace the rotted floor and use the boat. Take a sawzall with a long flexible blade and go around the outside of the floor making sure not to cut the hull. cut the floor into reasonable size pieces and remove it. Use it for a pattern and cut a new floor out of marine grade plywood and glass it in.It's not quite that simple but if you're handy and can read there are boat repair resources available at the library. Ive done several boat floors and hulls with holes. This isn't difficult just a little tedious and time consuming. It sounds like you can end up with a nice boat cheap.

Kbass,

Are you sure your suit allows you to sell it?

If the dealer is going to pay you, I would think they should get their boat back. Or, you may have a countersuit.

Make sure!
