Hello, I have a 2.3 l omc cobra and my power trim pump stopped working last week. I jumped power straight to the pump and still nothing. Has anyone replaced the pump/motor before? Can anyone walk me through this? I have ordered a replacement and thought I should ask to see if there is anything that i should know or be aware of before pulling the old one and putting the new one in. It looks to be a pretty straight forward job, 1 electrical plug and two hydraulic lines. Thanks in advance..

Without knowing what style trim pump you have it is hard to give specific guidance. So here's some general guidance...1) Disconnect battery! This very important because there is a lot of power at you trim pump. 2) If your setup requires disconnection of lines, mark your "UP" and "DOWN" lines before disconnecting them if the nuts are the same size. 3) Make sure you cover any open/disconnected lines and ports while working in the area. Keeping contamination out of the system is crucial to its longevity and proper function. 5) Just as important as #1...You should really get yourself a quality maintenance manual. Not only will it provide you with the reference material for this task, but it will also walk you through troubleshooting of your trim pump malfunction that may not lead to a faulty pump, saving you lots of $$$. I just bought a SELOC manual for my 92 OMC Cobra 5.0HO and rebuilt my trim pump manifold. The book is worth its weight in gold. Good luck
