Good Mornin',

I was wondering if anyone had experience with an Optimax Pro Xs? I'm looking at purchasing a 2008 Lund Tyee...either 1850 or 1950 and put the new 175 XS on the 1850 or the 225 on the 1950.

I've asked a couple of dealers if they felt this motor was a good choice for this boat.....don't really get an answer. I like the idea of the motor being built with beefier parts, better computer and better fuel economy....and a bit more oomph is a plus as well.

Was wondering if those of you "In the know" could educate me about this motor....and tell me if it would work well on a fish and ski type boat.

Thank you in advance for any information/assistance.

Have a great weekend,

Wayne

It's a go-fast motor. If that's what you want to do, it's the motor for you. If you want an all-around motor, it ain't.

So would you say it's not for general all around use?? For cruising, skiing and fishing in bigger bodies of water etc? Sorry if these seem like silly questions....just trying to get up to speed with these different models. I wanted to ask here because the Merc. ads don't really seem to specify the uses for the Pro XS....other than hinting at bass boats.

Thanks much for any and all input. As a newbie....I greatly appreciate it!

Thank you for that information, I really appreciate it. I wasn't sure if the Pro XS was strictly for high performance use. The Mercury site and brochure offer little.

I like the idea of a more robust engine....with better internal parts along with all the other advantages.

Thanks again....for helping a neophyte like myself.

The Pro XS just have better stronger parts that last longer when abused, that is why I bought one for my wife for her speedboat .........
