I have a 2003 Regal 1800LSR that I noticed sounded off when up in the 40mph range. When I took it in to get winterized I asked them to check on this. They did a compression check that came out 180/190/160/190/175/190, they found that the timing was 3 degrees retarded and attributed the power loss to this. I have not taken the boat out yet this season, should I be concerned about the one cylinder that tested 160psi that is out of the 10% range?

Any advise would be helpful as I am clueless about mechanic stuff.

Thanks!

Do you have a full model number or a serial number for your engine. Can you put a cylinder number with the compression readings? EFI or Carbed? what is you max WOT (Wide Open Throttle) Rpm? Do you boat in fresh or salt water?
Sorry for all the questions, but there is more to it than just 3? of timing.

Re: Need Advice Compression results Volvo Penta 4.3L

Its a Volvo Penta 4.3L GL/SX EFI but I don't have the serial number. I thought the cylinders mapped to the readings cylinders 1-6. I don't know what the WOT is =/ Sorry I am so limited in my knowledge of mechanics. I have had the boat in salt water but have been sticking in fresh water for the last 2 seasons (in Puget Sound area WA state).

Any ideas would be appreciated!
