Need a year for my engine can you help

I bought a 14 foot fiberglass single hull boat it came with a 40 horse Johnson motor. However, I think it is a 1970 or 71 model but I am not sure, the model # is RDS-25D and the serial # is C390171. Can any one help? Thank-you in advance. Egghead.

hey egghead. your johnson 40 horse RDS 25d is a 1963.
