I just had to help put my next door neighbor in an alert medical helo, he was working on his new pole barn and it looks like a rafter broke and he fell about 30 feet to a concrete pad below it, busted up his head pretty bad and had no feeling below his waist, took about 40 minutes for help to arrive and we almost lost him more than once! Scary stuff, He is in pretty bad shape, so if you think about it, say a prayer for him and his family.

Well right now, he has a concussion and several lacerations to the scalp, they stitched those up, he has a broken sternum, 5 broken ribs, a punctured lung, possibility of a fractured hip, a pneumothorax, Two broken and dislocated vertebrae, he is in pretty bad shape and has a long road to hoe, things don't look good.

There are joys to living remotely, this is not one of them, it takes so long to get help when you need it and they are talking about flying him to Seattle, so they can consult with a Neurologist because of the massive blow to the head and the broken vertebrae and dislocations in the back.

Well, just heard, he has been in surgery since about 11 AM this morning, his daughter has arrived and the Priest has been spending a bunch of time with the family, so hopefully they can get things fixed and put him back together, but at our ages, any injury can be really bad, he is not a young man, but he is as strong as an ox and he will make it through it, he better dang it, or I am going to slap the crap out of him!

Very sorry to hear. It's amazing he's alive after those injuries. He's blessed to have good friends and family around like yourself. Please keep us informed of how things are going for him.

Prayers headed out to your friend .. Hopefully he can recover fully ..
Working in construction we sometimes get complacent and forget that anything can happen at any time . I always worry when I send guys up to work from heights ..

Yeah, it's tricky business. I lost a friend of mine about 6 years ago when he went to do some work on his river cabin and apparently tipped over his step ladder. He was planning on being there for a couple of days so it took that long before anyone missed him and decided to check up. Sounds like your friend was fortunate to be found in that short a time.

Any updates MT?

Finally got an update, currently, he is not able to walk, but he has a small amount of movement in his right leg and can feel when they poke him on his left leg, he has been accepted into a rehab program in Craig, CO, the same facility to works with many of the big name sports figures when they get injured. He ended up with three broken vertebrae, they fused 6 vertebrae. Lung is healing well and of course the ribs are very painful, but it is looking a lot better than last week when they said his chance of walking again was less than 10%.

He has a very long road to take until he gets back to whatever his normal will be in the future, but at least he is not at risk of death anymore and chances to walk are starting to look up again.
