Re: need a new master cylindercoupler

You need one that is the capacity for the entire towed load. In your case you need the larger one.

with your boat, full of gas, loaded with gear, i wouldn't go less than 10,000.

on the coupler it's marked DICO no 17550 which i can't find any info on.The closes thing i've found that looks just like is a TITAN / DICO MODEL 20 which is rated for 20000 lbs

thanks. My local dealer said for 60 bucks he can get me a rebuilt kit for the master cylinder if it is the model 20.Which i believe it is.Like i said it looks identical in shape, style and doesn't have the reverse lock out.^0 bucks is alot cheaper then 340 to 500 bucks for a new one..

I wouldn't bother with a rebuild kit...buy a new master cylinder. Its not the seals that fail but the bore gets corroded and they hard to rebuild.

Re: need a new master cylindercoupler

You don't have to get the entire coupler, you can disassemble it and just replace the master cylinder, they are only 89.95 at Easternmarine.com that's what I did. It's pretty easy. And the 10 or 20 use the same master cylinder, so you don't need to figure out which one you have. Look under online superstore then "hydraulic trailer brake parts" the correct one is about 3/4 down the page part #5237005.

If the master cylinder was empty for some reason, chances are it will be empty again. Keep an eye on the master cylinder and wheel cylinders to see if they are leaking fluid.

On my brothers trailer we were going in the opposite direction...first master cylinder...then brake lines...then wheel cylinders...until we finally got it all fixed.
