Need a mind to pick

Hello Im new here an need a mind to pick. I have a 92 mercury force 40 that w the plugs in sounds like its hydro locked but w the plugs out spends beautiful!! W the plugs out i feel a lite mist out of the bottom cyl but no major water. i put new plugs in it an it sounded like it wanted to start but no go. I had to stop becouse the starter wes gettin hot. can someone help me out?

You need to do a compression test first.Then a spark test.
That Ok, then rebuild the starter or replace.Then check the connections.All grounds and hot connections.

Ive done all that. Still no go. Comp is good spark is good. replaced starter w a used 1 that works good. still @ a lose

How about the battery? Get it tested? Even new they can be weak or have a bad cell.

Reason I say that is that with no plug in, it turns. Seems to me that you're not gettin any release for the compression... Just a thought, but Frank knows these engines like his own kids. Seek his advise.

It's have to be packed full of clay or mud to not let the pressure out.
You check the static timing?The flywheel key sheared?Jerry

Frank Acampora, but jerry's on top of the list too. Id be completely lost if it wasn't for them... I think jerry is on to something with the flywheel timing.
