I bought a boat with a 150 Hp Force Outboard Motor, the guy I bought it from didnt much about the motor. I tried finding the serial number and model number without much luck. Here are the numbers I could find. Any chance I can identify the year of the motor from these numbers.

The F5 Force 150 was a later model. I can't give you the exact year but it would be 1991 to 1994-- probably closer to 94. You are lucky because that engine used the big bore 3.375 pistons and large venturi TC carbs. Earlier models used 3.3125 bore. Some used smaller WB carbs and some used TC carbs. I have one of each and want to compare the two to see if power output is the same or if the small bore engine is a bit lower in HP.

Under the power packs or coils.
On the top cylinder is a foundry stamp.
That will tell you when it was cast.
That will usually be the year it was made into an outboard motor.
Pics of the lower unit might help.
Sometimes on the starter is a date(unless it's been replaced)
Did the boat come with the motor from the dealer?
The manufacturer will have the motor info if it was a package deal.

Ill get those pics later. Starter was replaced. The original motor on the boat seems to be a yamaha as there is a yamaha oil tank still on board with wire harness. Ill check later under power packs.

The cover may have been changed or the lower unit may have been changed. So, at this point it is best to find a couple of good numbers to identify the engine. That lower unit is a single exhaust model and the engine is the extra long shaft 25 inch model.

Is the plate on the side of the left (port) transom clamp unreadable? It has the model and serial.

The colour and decal of the hood is pointing at a 1989 or 1990. But as Frank mention, it may have been change.
