Can someone tell me why when I turn on the nav lights, which dont work. The fuel gague goes to max fuel reading
quickly. Bad connection causing some kind of feedback ?? The boat is a 2002 Keykargo and I see quite a bit of
DIY wiring under dash. Thanks ,RJ

Welcome to iboats!

It could be as simple as two wires that have been accidentally swapped. There are some good generic wiring diagrams in the stickies at the top of this forum area.

There was a thread identical to this one, fuel guage and all, about two weeks ago. The posters found a bad ground connection and fixed the problem.

Good luck...

There are also many dozens of fuel gauge problems posted here. Most of those have a diagram of the fuel system. Just scroll through the forum titles.

I explain exactly why this happens in

http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/002089.html

(Just change "trim gauge" to "fuel gauge" in the article for your situation.) I also explain how to remedy the problem. The article is illustrated and goes into very great detail.

OK mates, Found the bad connection . Lucky it was right on the ground buss. Last owner, carpenter type, crimped
the terminal to the wire using side cutters and there was only a tiny portion making the ground . when I touched it the
thing fell right off. Now on to the trim tab thats hanging up. No hanging down. I checked it according to another thread
and looks like a bad switch. Thanks all. RJ
