Reminds me of the FOCA group in F1, which just disbanded before the 2014 season. With what I've read, these nine biggies haven't said what they want from Nascar. Yet! I think it's looking for a bigger slice of the $8.2B TV pie. Especially since sponsors aren't exactly beating down the doors to throw money at the teams. Home Depot is finished at the end of the year. NAPA is coming back with Chase Elliott next year after dropping MWR like a hot potato, but Jr. and Stewart are not fully sponsored for all 36 races this year. Other teams are in constant quest for sponsor bucks simply for survival.

An old friend of mine works for Kellogg. Years ago they had a budget of 7 million with Hendrick's. Now they budget about 1 million.

Nine race teams in the same hotel could get interesting.:pop2:

I could see added buying power, and if more joined the possibility of better bargaining power with Nascar.

Will be certainly something to watch.

Nascar, are you sure that was in the title. :D :der:

Ha........... all the talk in the article saying the RTA was formed to control costs like hotel expenses.........Give me a break! they will continue that talk until such time the majority of teams join the RTA....... then magically the talk will turn to teams getting a bigger piece of the tv pie along with other potential revenue.

The teams see the sponsorship dollars shrinking and they know they cannot continue the way they have grown accustomed to on less $$$
