Race #26 at Richmond this week, where the final 16 playoff contenders are set. Right now 13 spots are set by winning regular season races, except for Joey Logano who has only a cucumbered win and is still on the outside looking in. Elliott, Kenseth and McMurray are the bottom of the 16, with McMurray holding a 91 point lead over Bowyer in the 17th seed spot. Unless someone outside of the current 16 seeds wins at Richmond, we have the final 16.

Along with the Cup race, X-Men are running Richmond as well. Trucks are off this week and return in a week at Chicago.

39 Cup entries for Richmond, so no qualifying drama. The weather for the race weekend looks good and it's a good thing the race isn't next Wednesday when Irma comes to town. From MRN - The Richmond schedule;

News and Notes
  • Hurricane Irma first - Talladega, Charlotte and Atlanta tracks have opened their gates for refugees from Irma.
  • Another cucumber win. Hamlin joins Logano with an encumbered win which doesn't count as free pass into the playoffs. However Hamlin has another uncucumbered win. Joey still needs a clean win at Richmond to get in. Hamlin X-Men race also got the wave-off - His X-Win was encumbered as well.
  • Darlington Penalties - Both Hamlin (twice, Cup and X-Men) and Logano (X-Men) were caught with illegal truck arm set up. Also Junior had two loose lugnuts. All three teams will have crew chiefs suspended and fined. The truck arm guys will lose driver and owner points.
  • Time for the first of the 2018 rule changes. Next year each team has to use 13 sealed short block motors, meaning each motor has to be used in 2 races. I guess this is only for the 26 regular season and doesn't apply to the playoffs. :noidea: Also the same motor has to be used for Daytona, including all qualifying, qualifying race and guessing practices, so more permitted motor changes between qualifying races and the D500. In addition, if a motor is changed in the primary or backup car, the car starts at the rear. And one last one - Any time a team switches to the backup car, it starts at the end, unlike now when it depends on when the switch is made.
  • TV ratings for Darlington was 1.7, the three prior years were 2.8, 3.8 and 3.7 back to 2014,

Another uncucumbered win for Fisherman 88. Darlinton was his 2nd win this year. Congrats F88. slurpee11.png

FloridaFishingNetwork has a slim 2.5 point lead over sportsman3 in the overall standings.

Make your final regular season picks by race time on Saturday evening. Good luck.

Cup qualifying results;

Kenseth on pole, followed by Hamlin with new truck arm hardware, Busch41, Larson, Truex, Harvick, The Twerp, Stenhouse, Elliott, Jones, McMurray and Logano.

The X-Race just started with The Twerp on the pole. After 50 laps only 18 cars on the lead lap meaning 32 cars are a lap down. Of course a Cupper is leading - Keso.

Got distracted and missed the start.

1st caution and Kenseth has lead all the laps so far.

I think NASCAR is loosing their marbles, they throw a yellow because the leader locks up right side brakes!

The Twerp wins Heat #1. Larson, Bowyer, Kenseth and Truex round out the top 5.

Truex wins another heat. I think with the playoff points, he is probably the Champion and not a playoff wheel turned yet.

Danica spins and Nascar opens pit road with an ambulance at the entrance to the pits blocking it. A few cars bang and get damaged. Kenseth gets a good whack. Nascar did it during the spring race with a safety truck on the truck just before pit road.

How can Nascar talk safety and be lax about safety so often.

I blame the those in charge - Nascar. Nascar controls the safety equipment and pit road. Aren't they watching the track make sure it's clear? It didn't look like it.

Larson takes the lead out of the pits and with the green. Truex into the wall after Hamlin came up and tagged his rear,

#42 takes the checkers . aspeck is the iFL clubhouse leader - Hope your lugnuts are tight and you pass inspection.

Sounds like a crazy finish, will watch the replays. Tried many different streams, the only one I could get buffered every 15 seconds for 5 seconds. Not worth watching that. Watched Mission Impossible Rouge Nation instead. That stream worked.

Made a mistake and changed my picks. Have to go back to not doing that.

Congrats to Aspect.:joyous:

Hey 64 - This stream works fairly well. http://nowwatchtvlive.cc/watch-nbc-sport-networks-live-online-nbc-sport-networks-usa/

I've found it helps to start it about 30 minutes before the race to give it time to settle down and try the different links above the screen for the best feed. Sorry about the ads around the screen. :eek: If the link doesn't have a full screen option (I cast to the TV), I change the zoom to more than 100% to fill the screen and hide those ads.

Crap. My luck. I was around 3rd to 5th all race until Bowyer had issues and was still about 5th to 7th then Truex crashed. I think I finished about 14th. Oh well. Better than my last 2 races ago and 26th last race :rolleyes:

GA that was the stream that was buffering. We have been having speed issues with our provider. I think that is the biggest problem.

You also don't want to make any mistaken clicks, Oh La La. :lol:

Sometimes those ads on the home page leave nothing to the imagination. Good thing I'm a dirty old man. :eek:

I had a good race, didn't finish on the bottom - Jip saved me.

Nascar is conducting an investigation into why an ambulance was blocking pit road after the pits were opened last night.

Dollars to doughnuts they find the ambulance driver at fault. Nascar will surprise me if they take responsibility instead of laying blame as an official was doing after the race by saying he didn't stop.

If the ambulance has the lights flashing, don't they have the right of way? :rolleyes:
