We journey to a whole 'nother country to watch the race at the Texas Motor Speedway this week. Cup will be driving for 500 miles on Saturday night or not even 2/3's of the way across the state, while the X-Men drive a paltry 300 Friday evening. No Trucks until May at Kansas. The MRN schedule;

Slight rain chances Saturday may cause some delays. And then again, maybe not.

The entry list is at 40, so a full field and everyone gets to race. Brian Vickers is once again filling for Smoke this week. And the race is on Fox, so I don't need to search for an on-line stream. Yippee!

New and Notes
  • Shrubby had laser issues at Martinsville and flunked laser test testing twice in pre-race inspection, resulting in a warning.
  • Nascar fans like to eat, so TMS will debut a new culinary delight named the Hawg Heaven BBQ Melt. I gotta give the breakdown; Texas BBQ pulled pork braised in Texas Motor Speedway's recently released No Limits Checkered Past craft beer produced by the Audacity Brew House in Denton, Texas, Creamy bacon jalape?o mac & cheese, Texas 1015 sweet onions, and Fried spicy pickle chips. All of those ingredients are wedged between two slices of griddled jalape?o cornbread and garnished with a bacon-wrapped jalape?o. Where's the beef? Actually, where's the Texas brisket?
  • Dale Jr. has tweeted about his favorite sandwich. Banana and mayo (Hellman's, of course - a sponsor) on white bread. Yummy - Yuck.
  • ISC, the France family track ownership company, has stated that advance race ticket sales are down 10% from last year. Their reason - Jeff Gordon's retirement and Tony Stewart's injury absence. They are grasping at straws - Balderdash!
  • Martinsville TV ratings - Bucking a trend. The overnight ratings were reported as down, as have most races lately. The final ratings reversed that by showing that Martinsville TV ratings on FS1 was up over last year and is the most watched FS1 racing event and daytime telecast. One of the rating methods is faulty to show such a swing, in my opinion.

Another first time winner in our iFL racing league. Ttownmatt2 made some good roster picks for Martinsville and gets this week's :first:. Congrats, TT.

Overall league points are still headed up by Trackchick Stars

Get all your roster changes made before the Saturday green flag wave at 7:46 PM Eastern. Good luck everyone.

Hahaha...... Ya right........ They always have an excuse for lack of ticket sales. Apparently, this is their latest and greatest.......

Maybe last year advance sales spiked because of Gordon retiring - I don't remember. But how about this?

Average ticket price for NASCAR Sprint Cup events at Daytona International Speedway was about $160.07, an increase of more than 19 percent from last year primarily related to new seats sold at higher prices with the Daytona Rising project that reduced capacity from 147,000 to 101,000.

I wonder what a beer and hot dog cost this year?

That's about right. reduce the seating capacity and raise prices to make up for the loss of fans. AND it looks like the stands are more full too. A win, win for NASCAR....

Losing interest due to the races not all being on broadcast TV.

They are one long commercial with all the ads all over the cars and track. I see no reason to pay for a channel to watch commercials.

They do seem to break away to a lot of commercials. Probably one of the main things keeping NASCAR alive.... No commercial dollars, no race.....

I have been griping about this for years, I pay a hundred bucks a month, so they can try to sell me something!

Hate to say it, but it is probably time for NASCAR to make some changes in Xfinity, None of the Xfinity regular drivers are even close to winning any longer, I remember watching Busch so many years ago and the 2nd tier those days was at the level that K&N is now, I believe they could throw a X car on a Sprint car race and it would compete and could possibly win. I think Kyle is a good, if not great driver, but he is not giving the young kids a chance to learn anything.

Right on, MT. 5 of the top 10 were Cup drivers. At least Erik Jones snagged 2nd over the next 3 places, all Cup regulars. Yep. only 1 X'er in the top 5.

When the Cup guys aren't in an X race, the racing is much better, too.

They finally figured out how the Gubment figures the unenjoyment rate and applied it to ratings. :embarassed:

If the "X" regulars would get together and wreck all of the Cup guys at the beginning of every race then the Cup guys might get the message after a few races...:D:bump2:

Now they're doing a time wasting, time filler on Daytona. Good - A break from the Waltrips.
